Greetings to all:
Last year was a record year for membership, SUNY colleges across all sectors represented by becoming members of the organization that is for us. As we move into a new membership year I look forward to returning and new membership. I therefore encourage SUNYCAP members to renew their membership and also invite non-members to join an organization which provides a number of professional development opportunities! Don’t forget that as the 39th Annual SUNYCAP Conference, which will be in the beautiful Lake Placid, approaches members are also eligible to apply for SUNYCAP grants and scholarships. SUNYCAP is a professional organization devoted to the issues and concerns facing today’s admissions professionals, as well as the promotion and success of the State University of New York. What does a SUNYCAP membership provide?
A SUNYCAP membership provides:
1. A wide range of professional development activities including grant and scholarship opportunities to help members attend the annual SUNYCAP conference, as well as other state and national conferences.
2. The opportunity to work with your SUNY colleagues on committees and special event programs.
3. Promotion of SUNY through service to the high school counseling community.
4. A clearinghouse and forum for ideas and issues facing public higher education in New York State.
5. Subscription to the Endeavors newsletter and SUNYCAP listserv.
Institutional discounts for attending Operation Inform and New Professionals Orientation.
For your convenience, the membership form can be found on the SUNYCAP website. Please visit http://www.sunycap.com. (under “Membership”, click on “SUNYCAP Application Form”), print the form and mail your membership to:
Ms. Lisa Thompson
Office of Undergraduate Admissions
The College at Brockport
350 New Campus Drive
Brockport, NY 14420
The cost for a Single Membership is $30.00 per person, per year. We also offer an Institutional Membership which covers membership for five admission professionals for a total cost of $140.00 per year. Either way, joining SUNYCAP is a sound investment!
On behalf of the entire SUNYCAP Executive Board, I extend thanks to those of you who have already renewed your membership. To those of you who are joining us for the first time, we look forward to you becoming involved in this worthwhile organization!
Sincerely
Lisa Thompson

~Message from Tom re: Paul Rose~
Sad News
Joe Insel sent this to me this morning. Paul Rose was formerly the Director of Admissions at SUNY Morrisville. Let's all keep Paul in our thoughts and prayers!
Tom
I have spoken to Paul Rose, and he has been diagnosed with liver cancer
- stage two, and it has mastecized to his vertebrae. More tests are scheduled this week, including biopsies , MRI, and so forth. Paul has been advised by his minister to let everyone know of his situation. If you are inclined to contact him, I think he would welcome it. Perhaps you can share with SUNYCAP people..Paul seeks our prayers and support - not any sympathy - and welcomes any information relative to treatments he might have access to. He can be reached at 315-824-1321 or email at prose100@twcny.rr.com . His address is 8 Hamilton St., Hamilton, NY (not sure of zip code...).
What makes his illness even more cruel is that he has taken such great care of himself - all his life...

~Message from Tom Nesbitt~
It is that time of year again. With the SUNYCAP Conference being held in less than 2 months, June 11-13th @ the Rochester Hyatt, it is time to nominate those who have gone above and beyond for both their campus and the SUNY system for one of our Awards of Merit. This years awards ceremony will have added excitement as we get the first opportunity to honor two of our founding members via the newly named Larry Appel New Professionals Award and the Dave Truax SUNYCAP Service Award.
The deadline for nominations is May 27th and the Awards Committee is looking forward to reviewing the merits of those who serve SUNY so well. There are 16 possible categories to nominate for so please read through the attached document (see link below) and think about those individuals in our profession who have impressed you. Let me know if you have additional questions. You can either PDF the application to me at nesbittw@potsdam.edu or print it off and send it in the mail to the address on the form.
I look forward to seeing everyone at the conference.
